It's About The Music!

PocoNotes Newsletter 2011-3: July 16, 2011

Thank YOU!

On July 13, 2006, eight people landed in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Avoca International Airport, walked off their flight from New Orleans and into our lives…changing them forever – and for better!  These people are better known by the folks who voted them “Best Traditional Brass Band" - more than once - as The Storyville Stompers.

In the
five years, 13 shows and 58 musicians that have followed, we have been on the most incredible journey imaginable…and have so many people to thank for more wonderful memories than these two "children of the 60's" can possibly count.

Although we made the arrangements and “wrote the checks,” it’s
you who have done so much to make a difference in our lives…and the life of one – or more – of our beloved troubadours.  Perhaps, you were in one of our audiences…or purchased a CD or t-shirt…or posted a flyer...or told a friend about what you’d heard at one of our shows…or ‘roadied’ for us…or designed a flyer…or published our press release…or gave us an interview - or a ‘shout out’ on the radio…or sent us one of the many kind notes of praise and encouragement that we’ve received over the years.  Regardless of the gesture – large or small, we could not have done any of it without your generous spirit and support.

Whether they get to a gig by
tour bus, church bus or Greyhound bus, we can attest that each of the musicians we host comes to share the very best – and, often, most vulnerable – part of themselves.  Therefore, at this five-year milestone, we would like to stop and thank you for helping us give them all a safe place to land.  Because of you some local musicians became heroes in their hometowns…and some legends were honored for their years of service…and for giving us the soundtrack for our lives.

However, no note of thanks would be complete without our acknowledging the incredibly talented musicians who have allowed us into their lives…however briefly.  We are honored – and humbled - to be even the smallest part of their musical history.

So, be it rock or folk…or
anything and everything in-between, we look forward to continuing the journey…and having you share this adventure with us.  So, until we meet – or meet again, please be good to each other, and we’ll see you at a show soon…in a neighborhood near you!

Peace…really!
