PocoNotes Newsletter 2008-3: April 20, 2008

Without a doubt, the April 12th launch of our third season of bringing good music and good people together was yet another incredible night of music.

Even we couldn't believe the performances by
Patrick Sweany and Billy Rogan separately - and together, but our audience could...because we've been hearing from them all week!

So, take a moment to check out these talented musicians and be sure to sign up for their mailing lists.  You won't want to miss them the next time they're in your neighborhood.

We know that we will be bringing them back and, until we do, we will have copies of their CD's for sale at our three upcoming storytelling events in our
Hear 'Em At The Comm series.

Once again, we send our thanks to the good friends that put their busy schedules aside and traveled - in total - thousands of miles over state and county lines to join us as we presented another event that was put together from our hearts.

As Pat says, we had audience members from the ages of 2 to...well, a lot more than 2.  However, it's true, the young ones get the attention because the third star of our show, Ani, was dancing in the aisles to the delight of everyone in the room, including the artists and the Boy Scouts from Troop 322.

As we said very early in this PocoNotes journey, "you never know how far you can go unless you risk going too far."  It's the many people that we have met along the way - and the many kindnesses that they have shown us - that have helped us turn our dream into our reality.  Last Saturday, we met many more and, next time, we hope it will be you

Come out to the stately
Waverly Community House on June 28th and welcome Toby Walker and Charles Havira to our beautiful little corner of the world.  Toby will be working much of the magic that Carnegie Hall hired him to present to the children in the New York City Public School System with this "American Roots" program, and Charles has honored us with allowing us to help him "release" his brand-new CD with all of attention and fanfare that it deserves.

In closing, we want to say that we received the ultimate compliment last week when someone told us that it was obvious that everything we did was first-class.  It's true; we do put lots of thought into every aspect of our events.  We feel that it's what our artists, our audience and our venue deserve.  In fact, this level of respect is the bedrock of everything that we are doing because we know that if we build it, they will come.

So, please join us on June 28th.  Tickets are an amazing $20 in advance and are available at NEPATickets, another like-minded organization working to make their contribution to the growing vibrancy of an area that we all love.  For information about group rates, please contact us directly.  We'd love to help you do something special for your employees, students, campers or family members!

For more information about our 2008 schedule -  performances or guitar workshops,
come see us at PocoNotes.com and PocoNotes on MySpace or, even better, call us at (888) 800-POCO.  We'd love to hear from you!

We'll see you at the show.  Until then, as always, be good to each other and keep supporting live music.  If we don't, it will go away!

Until then - peace... really!

"It's About the Music!"

P.S.  Please feel free to share this information.  It will certainly help us have our artists greeted by a full and appreciative audience - each and every time!

New Orleans' musicians still need your help.
Please support the charities on our friends page.
It's about the music. And the music comes from the musicians.
